According to official figures, more than 20,000 Chinese workers were diagnosed with pneumoconiosis last year. This is double the figure from three years ago, but still only represents the tip of the iceberg. At a conservative estimate, there are more than one million people in China today suffering from this deadly lung disease. The vast majority of the individual tragedies are unknown because the victims themselves have no voice and the authorities are reluctant to help.
This is the story about a group of workers, who decided to make their voice heard, and stand up for their rights and the rights of their fellow victims.
