I am traveling this summer via cruise from L.A. to Mexico, Ensanada and Cabo san Lucas. I'm going with Royal Caribbean, and they have excursion packages you can add on while in these places--hiking, snorkeling, etc. Is it worth making reservations with the cruise line OR wait and once ashore, find local excursion companies? I am thinking the latter could be cheaper and less crowded with fellow cruisemates.
More detail--I am traveling with my family (10 people total) this summer via cruise from L.A. to Mexico, Ensanada (most of a day) and Cabo san Lucas (overnight, so about a day and a half). I'm going with Royal Caribbean, and they have excursion packages you can add on while in these places--hiking, snorkeling, etc. My parents are in their early 80s and will be unable to do anything more strenuous than walking around. Also my youngest daughter is 10.
Does anyone have any experience with the local businesses doing group tours? There are simple taxis and water taxis to the beaches around there, and I'm just thinking by going off on our own, away from the cruise-planned things, we save money and avoid crowds and it's just better. The risk, though, is that we can't just do a walk-in, that we'd need to make reservations...which is actually another option--reserving excursions online with local businesses.
Also, just general suggestions for things to do in Ensanada and Cabo san Lucas, no matter how we book them, would be appreciated. |
