iphone holder/tripod question

My iPhone Xr has an otterbox type of bulky case, which I would like to leave on it while on a stand. It also has slightly more bulk with this teeny spectacles pocket.

I have a tripod with an iPhone holder that will stretch wide enough, but the jaws are too thin to grasp around the outside of the phone with added bulk. They seem to be made for a phone with no case or a very thin case. But, I'm sure I'm not the first person with this problem. Do you know a good, sturdy solution? It should be able to hold the phone vertically or horizontally.
