Intel Unison app for connecting Android and iOS devices to Windows is shutting down in June

A few years ago, Intel announced the Intel Unison app which allowed owners of an iPhone or Android phone to connect their device to a Windows PC. When connected, users could make and receive calls, receive and send SMS, receive app notifications on their PC, access their phone's gallery on the computer, and easily transfer files between their phone and PC. Now, Intel has announced that it is shutting down the app.
First reported byNeowin, Intel has added a message to the Intel Unison's Microsoft Store and App Store listings that the appwill soon be discontinuedand that the service will end for most platforms at the end of June 2025. However, those who own a Lenovo Aura computer willretain service through 2025.
Intel hasn't provided any information as to why it is winding down the app. The decision will take many by surprise as it is considered to be pretty useful and even works better than Microsoft's ownWindows Phone Link.

In addition to the aforementioned features, the Intel Unison app even allowed users to connect their tablets and use them as a second screen with a compatible PC. They could also use the PC's keyboard and mouse (via Universal Control) to control their tablet.

When the app was first announced in 2022, it was only compatible with select Intel Evo computers but in early 2023, Intel Unison gained support for more PCs including ARM-powered ones as long as they were running Windows 11, had a minimum of 4GB of RAM in addition to Bluetooth and an internet connection.
