So, just how tall is it? The official height of Mount Everest is 8,848.86 meters (29,031.7 feet) above sea level. That's like stacking almost 30 Eiffel Towers on top of each other! It's growing a little very year. About 4 millimeters (0.16 inches) every year.
Where is this giant mountain? Mount Everest sits right on the border between Nepal and China (in a region called Tibet). It's part of the amazing Himalaya mountain range, which has lots of other super-tall mountains.
If you look at a map, you'll find it in Asia. More than 5,000 people have made it to the top, but it's a very difficult and dangerous climb.
Mount Everest is so famous, people call it by different names. In Nepal, it's called "Sagarmatha," which means "Forehead in the Sky." In Tibet, it's called "Chomolungma," which means "Goddess Mother of the World."
Even if you don't climb it, just seeing Mount Everest is amazing. It's a true wonder of nature! It's a reminder of how big and powerful our planet is.
