We’ve been eagerly anticipating updated M4 Macs for what seems like months now – and the recent iPad mini 7 launch has sparked some concern that Apple might be running out of time to launch the devices in 2024. Fortunately, they are still on track to arrive soon, according to a prominent leaker who's now revealed what could be the date of Apple's media event.

Just a few hours after claiming that the first Macs with M4 chips are launching "very soon," Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has followed up with a slightly more specific timeframe. In his latest social media post today, he said an "M4 Mac launch" is on Apple's schedule for next week, but he did not mention a specific day.

Later this month, Apple is expected to launch three new powerful MacBooks—the M4-powered MacBook Pro, the M4 Pro MacBook Pro, and the M4 Max MacBook Pro—before they go on sale in the first week of November. These will introduce the new M4 Apple Silicon chipset to the Mac platform—although Apple made the curious decision to debut the chipset in May inside the iPad Pro.
The “imminent” updates are coming to the MacBook Pro, the iMac, and the Mac mini, according to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who frequently shares accurate information about Apple’s future plans and releases. And he's now revealed on X (formerly Twitter) in a new post that Apple is "inviting media/creators at different appointment times throughout the day on 10/30 in my town of LA".
In another twist, leaker Sonny Dickson today claimed that he heard the new Mac mini with five USB-C ports might launch this week instead. Dickson has revealed some accurate details about upcoming Apple products through leaked cases and dummy models, but some of his hardware-related claims have proven to be inaccurate.
The entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip allegedly leaked in a few unboxing videos earlier this month, and it was shown to be a November 2024 model in those videos. If the videos are legitimate, that means the first Macs with M4 chips might not arrive to customers until next month, even if they are announced within the next week or so.
