The details come from the Japanese Apple blog Makotakara. They are reporting on a leaked mockup for a new iPhone SE—which many expect to launch in March 2025. The 3D printed module likely comes from a peripheral manufacturer creating a ‘blank’ iPhone SE to test with a new range of cases.

Macotakara also shows a dummy unit of a larger iPhone SE 4 Plus. Such a model has never been offered before by Apple and compared to the 6.1-inch display on the iPhone SE 4, the iPhone SE 4 Plus would come with a 6.5-inch screen. We haven't heard anything about an iPhone SE 4 Plus model which wouldn't make sense if such a device was legitimately on the horizon. Apple reportedly has not yet decided on whether it wants to offer both iPhone SE 4 variants according to Macotakara, so let's stick with the specs of the 6.1-inch iPhone SE 4 for now.

Mactakara proves this by putting the 6.1-inch SE 4 into a soft clear case designed for the 14 — though the single lens on the upcoming model makes the camera space on the case look oddly empty. The site also manages to apply a screen protector intended for the 2022 smartphone which fits perfectly.
It’s unlikely that this actually translates to anything, given the fact that there has previously been zero reporting regarding a larger size option for the upcoming iPhone SE 4. While it would be an interesting move, something thats long been speculated on – it probably isn’t happening.
The most significant change over previous iPhone SE designs is the move towards a design based around the iPhone 14. The first three iPhone SE models used a Home Button with integrated TouchID. The main line switched away to a gesture-based system and FaceID recognition for unlocking. The iPhone SE is set to follow that design and, as a result, will look more like a modern iPhone.
The iPhone SE 4 is expected to hit the marketplace during the first quarter of 2025. The device should come with 8GB of RAM which means that the iPhone SE 4 will support Apple Intelligence, Apple's AI initiative.
