If you buy your phones based on specs rather than the brand or text bubble color, you might be should be interested in the OnePlus 13. A leaker on China's Weibo social media platform says that the OnePlus 13 will replace the optical fingerprint sensor used on the OnePlus 12 with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor similar to the one used on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Pixel 9 Pro. The ultrasonic sensor is faster, and more accurate, and more secure than the optical type and will work with wet and dirty fingers.

First posted by Digital Chat Station on Weibo (since hidden) an image of OnePlus 13 shows off the new design with a faux wood grain back, the same camera placement, and a new metal accent on the back. That metal meets up with the flatter edges of the device.

OnePlus will launch its flagship OnePlus 13 in China by the end of October, but a new leak revealed a mid-range version of the phone that looks pretty powerful. The leak comes from regular leaker Digital Chat Station (via Android Authority), which posted potential specs on the Chinese social media site Weibo.

The next OnePlus flagship looks a little flat — and that’s a good thing. The alleged image of the unreleased OnePlus 13 was posted to Weibo and has been since removed, but not before it was spotted by 9to5Google. It shows the phone with flat sides rather than the curved edges featured by recent OnePlus phones. It’s a small shift, but it would make OnePlus the latest in a long list of phone makers to adopt the (arguably more comfortable) flat edge design.
OnePlus 13 is expected to launch in China very soon, with a global launch in the months to follow. Oppo yesterday showed off ColorOS 15, which offers a preview of OnePlus’ plans in OxygenOS 15 which will be announced next week.
The latest rumored specs call for the OnePlus 13 to feature a 6.82 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood is the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 application processor (reportedly renamed as the Snapdragon Extreme Edition) and we might see a new configuration of the phone with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The rear camera array includes a 50MP main camera using a Sony LYT-808 sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera backed by a Samsung JN5 sensor, and a 50MP periscope lens delivering 3x optical zoom. The latter will use a Sony LYT-600 sensor.
In previous years, the OnePlus Ace 2 and Ace 3 were released to the rest of the globe as the OnePlus 11R and OnePlus 12R. So, we may see it released next year in 2025 as the OnePlus 13R.
