Analogue already has one of the best retro game consoles with its beloved Pocket, which brought GameBoy games to the modern era. Now the company is doing it again with the Analogue 3D, a console designed to play original Nintendo 64 consoles in stunning 4K resolution, making the games look like they belong in 2024.

Analogue has revealed the price, specs, and preorder date for its upcoming Analogue 3D console, which it touts as the first true Nintendo 64 clone console. Analogue says the sleek little device, which features a custom controlled by 8BitDo, will be able to play all original N64 game cartridges with 100 percent compatibility, and will be region-free. It will cost $249.99 and preorders begin on October 21.

It won’t make it out in 2024 as originally planned, but Analogue is finally ready to share details on its take on a Nintendo 64. The Analogue 3D will launch early next year (the company says Q1 2025) and will cost $249.99. It comes in either black or white, and preorders kick off on October 21st at 11AM ET.
First announced at the beginning of the year, the Analogue 3D is a modern take on the N64, similar to previous Analogue consoles covering the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, and Game Boy. The new console can upscale classic games to 4K and includes multiple display modes to mimic the look and feel of a CRT display. Analogue says it’s “designed with a bespoke, purpose-built 4K upscaler.”
The new device is called the Analogue 3D and, among other technical advancements, offers 4k resolution. Analogue lauds the device as being compatible with “every original N64 game ever made” regardless of region.
The console connects to the best TVs through HDMI. From there, the processing system inside boosts your favorite games' resolutions by up to 10x (some games run at a higher resolution natively, and some aren't upscaled to full 4K).
The Analogue 3D's biggest selling point is its ability to easily play N64 games in 4K via HDMI — a boon given the messy nature of N64 emulation. It's designed with a "bespoke, purpose-built 4K upscaler" that offers a "faithful, lag-free way to re-experience the N64." It will also include original display modes for those seeking a more authentic experience, and yes, it'll support original N64 controllers too.
The Analogue 3D supports Bluetooth, has four original controller ports, two USB ports, and an SD card slot. You can check out the full specs right here. There’s also new operating system dubbed 3D OS, which you can get a glimpse of below:
It's powered by 3DOS, which Analogue calls an "evolution of AnalogueOS" featuring N64-specific features. Screenshots show that it will once against support save states, the ability to take screenshots, and other features.
You can use original N64 controllers with the console or buy a modern controller like the 8BitDo 64 Controller. Either way, the console doesn't have one in the box, so you'll need to purchase a controller separately or use the N64 controllers you already own.
