Design and Size
The iPhone 16 Pro Max inherits the same design language as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, employing the same titanium frame with a completely flat screen. There's an improved new Ceramic Shield at the front, which is twice as tough as the regular Ceramic Shield up front, apparently. Performance and Software
The iPhone 16 gets a new Apple A18 chip, built on second-gen 3nm technology. No other phone is built using such advanced process at the time of the launch.This new chipset is also the first built from the ground up about AI optimizations. Apple missed the AI hype train last year, but it's fully invested in this year.Remember that AI is a staggered roll-out for Apple with big ticket items like the ChatGPT integration coming by the end of the year, while the all-new Siri is due in the fist half of 2025.

The processor is perhaps where the iPhone 16 receives its biggest upgrade over its predecessor. The A18 processor is a two-generation leap from the A16 Bionic chipset on the iPhone 15. While both of them get a six-core CPU, a five-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine, the new chip is more capable of handling the upcoming suite of Apple Intelligence features.

However, while both devices can charge up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes, the iPhone 16 can charge a little faster as well, when paired with a 30W adapter.

The iPhone 16 brings notable improvements in performance and connectivity over the iPhone 15, driven by the A18 chip built with TSMC's 3nm process, which is more efficient and powerful than the iPhone 15's A16 chip. The 6-core CPU is up to 30% faster, while the upgraded 16-core Neural Engine is optimized for running generative models, doubling the speed of machine learning tasks. In terms of graphics, the iPhone 16's 5-core GPU delivers a 40% boost in performance and introduces hardware-accelerated ray tracing, enhancing gaming and visual effects.
