There are several reasons why your printer may have stopped functioning, or never worked, to begin with. The wrong driver may have been installed upon initial setup, the connections between your computer and printer may have been knocked loose, or your pop-up blocker is turned on.

Check Your Printer's Error Lights
Frustrating as they can be, printers do sometimes tell you what the problem is so you can avoid trial-and-erroring through the troubleshooting process. The printer may be showing an error message through a series of cryptic flashing or colored lights on the printer itself.

False low ink warning
You’ve just changed the ink cartridge, like, literally five minutes ago. But the printer’s saying your ink is empty. Turn the printer off and on again. It might need to reboot to detect there is a new ink cartridge installed. If this doesn’t work, check the utility software or your device settings on the client for a manual override. Or if it says it’s running out of ink, and you can still print okay, think of it like some car gas gauges. Sometimes when it says you’re low, you’ve actually got quite a lot of miles left in the tank. Same with ink cartridges for printing. The warnings can be early, or they can be accurate. It’s handy to order your ink and toner ahead of time. That way when you’re completely dry, for real, your replacement ink and toner are nearby. Improper Cartridge Installation
You should also check the ink cartridge of your printer. Occasionally the cartridge is wrapped in a piece of yellow tape that must be stripped off. If you forget to remove that tape, your printer may not work right. Also, make sure that you put the cartridge in the correct way or it will not print at all. Getting this right is critical for your printer to work efficiently.
Check cables
Make sure the cable from the printer is plugged directly into the computer and not a USB "hub." The USB cord of the printer needs to be directly connected to your computer in the computer's USB port and not plugged into a "hub" where many other USB cords can be plugged into at one time.
Restart the Print Spooler
nstead of clearing out all those jobs, Windows also allows you to restart the print spooler. This will try to print those documents as if they were just added to the queue. There are a few ways to do this, but the easiest is probably from the Command Prompt.
