What is the best way to continue to scout

Okay, so the basic sequence of arcane is going to be using Arcane Blast until you get close to forcing x. Then you can use Arcane Missiles with your muzzle barrage proc

You repeat the process. You're never going to be able to obtain the missile barrage ability and, despite having 40% of the time every Arcane Blast, there's a fair amount of times you're not going to get it. What then do you do then?

What is the best way to continue to scout out four stacks until you get an attack barrage? Do you just keep going until you get home, and then you eat okay?
