Although EA has since rectified the error 25 minutes after the launch of the pack, this didn't prevent millions of coins in worth from disappearing off FIFA Ultimate Team as players were forced to sell their FUT Hero items in a panic, due to the massive increase in supply.
FUT Hero items are very scarce players that are only available in specific packs in Ultimate Team. FUT Hero cards are presented to players who've been a major contributor to an organization or have become popular for a particular player, such as the former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung.
Due to the item's incredibly rarity, they are often priced extremely high in FIFA 23 Ultimate's marketplace for transfers, with certain items like Yaya Toure selling for 1.9 millions of FUT coins that a prominent third-party coin-selling website values around PS400.
The problem is that EA mistakenly released this pack, thus flooding the market with a large supply of the game, and saw all of the prices plummet rapidly while some people lost up to 1.25 million coins in value, around PS200 when purchased from a third party.
EA is yet to make a comment on the mistake. The damage to the market is permanent. A majority, if certainly not all players have lost value, and though the market has been recovering somewhat since the elimination of the pack and resultant shortage of FUT Hero items, the loss of coins will not be able to be reversed.
