Fans also have Diablo 4 to anticipate. While the new entry in the series isn't released until 2021 and does not have an official release date, Blizzard is regularly updating fans with new details including how Diablo 4's PvP system will operate.

As it turns out, there's a reason behind this limitation: 21:9 makes the game unplayable. Specifically, using an aspect ratio that is ultrawide makes it so that players can be attacked from far distances than what the game was intended to be played at. Affected enemies from the wider range ultrawide monitors provide simply don't recognize that they're being targeted, and as a result don't react.

"To safeguard the integrity of each player's experience and promote an equal playing field for everyone, those with ultrawide monitors will be able to have their game's screen size extended to 19:9 (the maximum length of the game's limitation zones) and a vignette will be added to the side of the game and screen" Blizzard wrote in an official forum post.

"We know that players have invested a significant amount of money to build their 21:9 hardware setups , and the black bars may be frustrating for players who have experienced. We'll continue to study these discussions, and then explore options that don't alter how games are played."

Blizzard also clarified its reason to remove TCP/IP support a feature present in the original version Diablo. The feature was eliminated because it was "enabling important security-related issues" in the game.
